    Recombinant Escherichia coli Aquaporin Z (aqpZ) (Active) is a full length protein expressed with N-terminal 6xHis-tagged in vitro E.coli expression system. Its expression region corresponds to 1-231aa of E.coli aqpZ protein. Its purity was determined by SDS-PAGE and reached up to 90% and presented a molecular mass band around 25 kDa on the gel. It was validated to be biologically active through functional ELISA analyses. This recombinant aqpZ protein may be used to synthesize antibodies against aqpZ or on the studies of aqpZ-associated signal transduction. This recombinant aqpZ proteins in-stock are available.
    aqpZ is a channel that permits osmotically driven movement of water in both directions. It is involved in the osmoregulation and in the maintenance of cell turgor during volume expansion in rapidly growing cells. It mediates rapid entry or exit of water in response to abrupt changes in osmolarity. Evidence shows that induction of an immune response against AqpZ can trigger an autoimmune reaction against human Aqp4 and inflammation of the central nervous system.
